Self-Care Introduction
-
Why I Made This Course
I created this course to share what I’ve learned about self-care.
-
What is Self-Care
Self-care refers to anything we do to take care of ourselves. This could be our physical, mental, emotional or social needs.
-
Self-Care Every Day
Self-care is something we should be doing every day, not just on special occasions or when we feel like we need it.
-
-
Physical Self-Care
-
Introduction to Physical Self-Care
Caring for our physical bodies is incredibly important. This includes movement, nutrition and rest.
-
Movement and Exercise
Our bodies are built to move! That said, there is no “perfect” exercise so we need to find what works for us.
-
Quick Win : Take a Walk
Physical self-care doesn’t have to be a big thing! Simply getting up and taking a walk can go a long way…
-
Nutrition
Food and drink fuels our body and gives us energy. This means making good decisions about what we eat and drink impacts our self-care.
-
Sleep and Rest
Our bodies and minds need time to recover. This is where sleep and rest come in.
-
-
Mental Self-Care
-
Introduction to Mental Self-Care
Taking care of our mental state is an important part of self care. Here we'll get a good overview of what that includes.

-
Quick Win : Box Breathing
This breathing pattern will help focus your breath, and mind - especially during meditation.
-
Mindfulness

-
Digital Detox
Technology is a great tool, but it can also cause us challenges. Mindful use of technology is important to our mental self-care.
-
Quick Win : Visualization
Visualizing our success, or happiness, or other positive things in our lives, can help us feel better about things. This involved picturing something in our mind that helps calm us down, see us succeeding in our goals and other positive things.
-
Gratitude
Gratitude helps us become more aware of the positive and good things in our lives. And, like many things, it’s a skill we can build.
-
Quick Win : Home Office "Commute"
Having a mental “gap” between home and work is important to set our mental space. If you work from home, make up a “commute” to help provide that gap.
